A MEASURED STUDIOS LAB

Probably nothing. We checked anyway.

Zombie Apocalypse Indicator turns official public signals and native iPhone capabilities into a transparent Z-Index.

The Z-Index is a transparent anomaly index derived from official public signals. It is not a probability of an apocalypse.

No qualifying USGS signals are in the current feed.

No synthetic or cached fixture events are shown as live.

OPEN METHOD

A score you can take apart.

Source data never arrives at the interface untouched. Every step has one job, one vocabulary, and a deterministic test boundary.

  1. 01

    Parse

Accept only the reviewed USGS GeoJSON subset; reject malformed events.

  2. 02

    Normalize

Translate source events into the versioned ZAI signal contract.

  3. 03

    Deduplicate

Keep the most recently updated copy of each USGS event identifier.

  4. 04

    Decay

Reduce event influence as its observation ages; expired signals add zero.

  5. 05

    Score

Apply published severity points, sum contributions, and cap the index at 100.

Personal Readiness is a separate future measurement. Device permissions, cached plans, and drills never change the external Z-Index.

NATIVE IPHONE LAB

The serious part lives under the costume.

The iPhone app reads the same normalized contract, keeps scoring out of view bodies, and makes source identity, timestamps, freshness, and geography inspectable.

  • Monitor, map, and source-detail screens
  • Offline, stale, empty, and partial-source states
  • No permission request at first launch

TESTFLIGHT PLACEHOLDER

TestFlight is not yet available.

FUTURE EXPERIMENTS

SDK lab roadmap

Documented directions, not shipped capabilities. Simulations will always be labeled and notification drills will always begin with Z-DRILL.

SOURCE + LIMITS

Official signal. Unofficial instrument.

Earthquake events come from the USGS Significant Earthquakes, Past Day GeoJSON feed. USGS receives explicit source credit; no USGS name, mark, or data is used to imply endorsement. Feed availability and preliminary event revisions can change what appears.

ZAI does not predict zombies, diagnose disease, issue public warnings, or replace local emergency guidance. It does not present simulations as real emergencies.

PRIVACY

Start with less.

This web slice has no accounts, subscriptions, analytics, user reports, or personal readiness store. The iPhone concept requests no permission at first launch. Future location or sensor experiments require a clear purpose, just-in-time consent, visible controls, and a path to revoke access.
